Johnston Island
In 1995, Shelby Hawkins, owner of 5 Star Termite and Pest Control, was hired by Raytheon Services of Nevada for the U.S. government to handle the tremendous termite and pest control problem on Johnston Island, a U.S. national wildlife refuge.
This is when she perfected the ETT444 treatment currently used by 5 Star in southern Arizona. In four short months she completely eradicated all the termite and pest problems, which had not been done in 40 years. The entire process was under the watchful eyes of EPA, OSHA, and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Agency, who were very skeptical at first, but soon became believers.
Recently, contacts with Johnston Island confirm that Shelby's method works. There is still no evidence of any termite infestation where treatments occured. They are quick to point out that the fish and wildlife populations are also thriving.
