Application of ETT444® To Your Home or Commercial Building

The ETT444®application process varies slightly from treatment to treatment.  This is due to 5 Star personalizing each treatment.  To adequately treat your structures unique construction and control termite infestation, 5 Star must tailor a treatment plan for you.  Many reasons for variation are due to interior construction considerations.  Interior construction factors worthy of treatment are sunken rooms, sub-slab ventilation systems, plumbing walls, known foundation cracks, et cetera.  There are, however, three major steps in the ETT444®process you can expect when our technicians arrive to treat your home.

Step 1 Gaining Access into the Wall Voids

Access to wall voids is made by drilling 1/4”- 5/16” (roughly pen cap sized) holes.  In frame construction these holes are made every 4 to 8 inches apart and a few inches above the base (or sole) plate around the perimeter of the home.  This remains the same process for all interior walls that must be treated.  In brick or block construction these holes are made 3 to 5 courses high, through the mortar joints, to access the air spaces and voids.

Step 2 Applying ETT444® to Wall Voids

After gaining access to the wall voids, we will begin applying the ETT444® treatment material.  In frame construction this material will range from a loose to stiff or heavy foam (much like shaving cream).  The material expands within the wall void, moving through insulation.  The foam will break down slowly into a liquid, gently absorbing into and contaminating all wood and edible building materials.  Again, the same process will be used on all interior wall voids that require treatment.  In brick and block ETT444® will be applied as a liquid.  It will trickle down through cracks and coat the interior of brick and block voids, denying termites entry.

Step 3 Patching Drilled Holes and Clean-up.

Our technicians will patch all holes drilled to gain access to wall voids.  We use a variety of materials for patchwork because of the variety of exteriors we treat.  We have pre and dry mix stucco, premixed concrete, and many colors of wood putty to match the exterior texture of your home.  If paint is provided at the time of service, we can paint over the holes or even mix paint with our patching materials.  On the interior walls, we use a light weight spackling compound to fill holes made in sheet rock.  The technicians will also sweep all areas where dust has occurred due to our drilling.

In Regards to Structures with Accessible Sub-Floor Crawl Spaces

The ETT444® treatment can be applied to sub-floor structural wood members.  It can also be applied to and around all support piers and the perimeter footing or skirting.
